Remake, remodel, rewrite

There seems to be a rise in the number of unconvincing attempts to characterise fascism as rising not from the right but the left. It's not only rewriting history for what seems like propaganda more related to current politics than examining definitions; it's perhaps even justifying the torrent of misinformation and abuse heaped on those who dare to disagree with the 21st century's variety of monotheistic conservatism (especially disparaging 'the left' - i.e. those who haven't invested their entire life in Me First behaviour.)

Comments:
You need to read some history.

I appreciate the comment, but I don't think the matter rests on the amount of history a writer may or may not have read. I'd argue this is a re-interpretation of history, as the original notions of fascism are clearly couched in capitalist economic systems - and was defined in relation to Mussolini's activities in the 1920's. To go back and argue that worker's movements before that date are now the same, after the fact, is a reinterpretation, and one that I believe is propagandistic in intent. That's all.
