Handbook for bloggers and cyber-dissidents

Reporters Without Frontiers is offering a Handbook for bloggers and cyber-dissidents. According to the site it contains 'handy tips and technical advice on how to to remain anonymous and to get round censorship [...] how to set up and make the most of a blog, to publicise it [...] and to establish its credibility through observing basic ethical and journalistic principles.' The Australian notes that 'the guide is based on technical advice from experienced bloggers and experts'. While the publication is attracting a surprising amount of mainstream media interest, CBS News' 'Public Eye' columnist writes in a very back-hand manner that 'cyber dissidents might suggest to the cursory reader that it has something to do with yet another chapter of The Matrix' - a subtle, but serious misdirection from the Handbook's intent. (The Matrix may not be the best choice of metaphor, as most trilogies stop at 3, making another chapter in that series implausible.) One outlet (Technology Marketing Corporation) also describes it quite incorrectly as a 'French government-sponsored guide', undermining its credibility.
