The woman whose unlawful detention in Baxter sparked the current Immigration Inquiry has conducted her first press conference since release. Her comments include a chilling statement that could be placed against any of the facist regimes of the last 100 years with great resonance:

"You are at the mercy of the Government. You can't voice your opinion because there's nobody to talk to."

The Courier Mail seemed very willing to print those observations, unlike the ABC, who manage to colour the reporting by describing "an at times rambling statement", and omits mention of her statements about being "at the mercy" of the Government (perhaps unsurprising as the Government funds the ABC, though a little more transparency would be preferable.)
