Sadism comes out of the closet to watch a movie

Another spruiker for the routine use of torture in society has bravely taken to fantasy to support the case. He says "it would be acceptable to use torture in criminal investigations", with his argument based on an example taken from the film "Dirty Harry". It's enlightening to see that calls to abandon human rights are being given substance by works of fiction, rather than real-world needs and considerations - after all, it's the use of fear and uncertainty that persuades through the media, where the best use of creative fear-mongering has the deepest impact. It doesn't matter that there are no real justifications, there were no real WMD in Iraq either, but there was plenty of real torturing to be done.
