Pissweak, gutless, and they're not even in government There are two words (or phrases perhaps) that come to mind to describe the ALP's decision not to support a Senate inquiry into the "extraordinary rendition" of Mamdouh Habib: pissweak, and anti-human-rights. In the face of the continued accomodation of the blindly and destructively pro-US stance [as opposed to giving due primacy to the interests of Australians] of the Australian government by the ALP, it is impossible to consider them as an "alternative" or "opposing" government in any real sense, and given their obvious lack of respect for ethical values in political and cultural life, I for one will from this point firmly consider the ALP to be no more than a franchise of the conservative parties, until and unless their approach and leadership changes. Gutless behaviour may be the political norm these days, but we do not, as citizens, have to accept or tolerate it. Ask yourself, what does "representative" (as in "House of Representatives" - the Australian Parliament) truly mean? Comments:
