Cornelia's not alone, but neither are critics

The Courier Mail reports that "Australians and foreigners living in Australia with a valid visa have spent periods of time in immigration facilities because of a 'standard' practice of detaining those suspected of being illegal immigrants", as confirmed by the Immigration Minister (or should that be Minister for Illegal Detention of Australians?) The fact that this is "standard" practise flies in the face of well-established legal principle of 'innocent until proven guilty', however in this case, and in the case of anyone "suspected" of "terrorism", the onus seems to be to prove one's innocence. This is not the sign of a thriving democracy. Neither is the Northern Territory Government's "secret database" of people who criticise the Government or its policies. Other entries apparently are described as "personal attack" or "third party negative comment", as well as listing people who called talkback radio to complain about Government.
