|  | January 05, 2005 Why disasters are good for you CNN's syndicated news feed today has the tasteful headline: "Powell: Tsunami Good for U.S." - part of the attempt to be the Good Guys again, after GW thought it appropriate he should spend 3 days at the ranch clearing land before even responding to the disaster. Yes, it might be good for the U.S. - after all, its elite seems to thrive on other people's misery mostly - and is there any other way of realistically reading that headline, when opportunity for reputation is but a prelude to enhanced exploitation and oppression?
