One for the smokers

Mark this one down: next time you're being stood over by a self-appointed Righteous Citizen for daring to smoke in public, tell them about the research that shows "the protective effect of smoking on Parkinson's disease" - even the writer comments that "Tobacco may have at least one virtue". The study was published online this month by the Annals of Neurology, against the tide of propaganda and misconception being used to take down smokers, while leaving the hugely polluting trucks, buses, imported cars with faulty catalytic converters that produce a foul Sarin-like gas (which smells like "rotten eggs"), and the like, to emit far more dangerous smoke and toxins than a cigarette, without apparent concern.
