Crying elephants, atomic schools, and Ice Age nude art The US quietly gives up on WMD in Irak, having gone from positions of definite possession, to having programs to possess them, to having the "intent" to possess them, while Israel, (which does have weapons, programs and arguable intent) begins a PR campaign to show how benign their WMD can be. In contrast, newly discovered nude paintings from the ice age lead researchers to admit "The West has a very fixed concept of art as something that is decorative and that stands alone. But [...] Art is far more embedded in society and tends to fulfill a number of roles - communicating messages about how society is organized, how individuals react with society and about cosmology." More is also revealled of intelligence service media manipulation, (though little is being said about the transparent setup of the IRA as culprits for that infamous and recent bank robbery.) Not to mention creating threats and noise by drip-feeding "terror bulletins" to the public that contain no new information, but rather repackage existing information to keep the Terrorist menace alive in the public mind. Bob Marley is to be dug up and reburied in Ethiopia, as the first trace of an ancient star map is found at the same time the "mystery" of life in the universe is thought to be explained. Reuters reports, tritely, on "the notion of an animal 'sixth sense' - or some other mythical power" as demonstrated by the absence of dead animals from the Tsunami disaster - seeming content to regard prescience as a myth, and avoiding examples like the Thai elephants that insisted on dragging their human companions into the hills just before the wave struck. (Begging the question, why do animals remain compassionate to humans despite our often brutal behaviour and lack of understanding of animal intelligence?) Comments:
