I just want to try to condition you Meanwhile, in a galaxy all of his own, when asked to explain one facet of his Social Security policy, US President Bush responded "I will try to explain how without negotiating with myself". This strangely echoes his Signature Monkey's statement on Monday that "I have directed that in the future I sign each letter". So, while Bush won't even negotiate with himself, Rumsfeld is perfectly OK with directing himself to act. These are arguably symptoms of some post-modern dissociative disorder appearing out of the Whitehouse: "impersonalization" perhaps, where the individual is compensating for being over-confident of their own authority. Where a person with depersonalization believes the external world is unreal or distorted, with "impersonalization" they believe their internal world forms "reality" in the external: remember, it was only very recently that one of Bush's henchmen was proclaiming how they "create [...] reality". Bush's actual statement to the press in part reads: "And so, I just want to try to condition you. I'm not doing a very good job, because the other day in the Oval, when the press pool came in, I was asked about this -- the -- a series of questions -- a question on Social Security with these different aspects to it. And I said, I'm not going to negotiate with myself. [...] The -- and I know there's a big definition about what that means."So GW knows a "big definition about what that means" - but evidently it's too big to share with the "unconditioned". Evidence is also beginning to mount of Bush's ultimate responsibility for the "conditioning" of detainess at Gitmo and elsewhere, with such civilised, compassionate methods as sleep management, shackled to the floor in foetal positions for up to 24 hours, stress positions, sensory deprivation, yelling at subjects and prisoners with hoods on their heads, strangulation, beatings, placement of lit cigarettes into the detainees' ear openings, unauthorised interrogations, subjected to mind-numbing music, humiliated by being wrapped with an Israeli flag, the use of snarling dogs, chained in ice-cold or super-hot cells, forcing detainees to defecate on themselves and to eat food from toilets, beaten while blindfolded and handcuffed, tortured with electrical shocks, and rape of children. Not to mention the media disappearance of a recent study in "an esteemed British medical journal" suggesting that up to 100,000 innocent Iraki civilians have died since the invasion. Is there a "big definition" missing here too? Comments:
