Bloodsports for the video game generation

Here's a great way to abuse a technology and kill innocent animals at the same time with no conscience required. Media reports are emerging of a site where "hunters" soon may be able to "blast away at animals on a Texas ranch via the Internet". The site creator for http://www.live-shot.com apparently had the idea last year while viewing another Web site where cameras in the wild take photos of animals. "We were looking at a beautiful white-tail buck and my friend said 'If you just had a gun for that.' A little light bulb went off in my head'". Nothing like appreciating nature - and it sure takes a lot of courage to kill a small deer remotely. It probably helps to kill also if one doesn't have to smell the blood and deal with the carnage afterwards. Bloodsports for the video game generation - and a murderous new pyschosis is born, one which parallels similar technology the military has recently been using to kill without conscience. A little light bulb has gone off in my head, too: why not site remote-hunting apparatus in Iraqi cities? That way we could all take part in the "counter-insurgency" and play our part in creating democracy (by killing everything in the way). And there is huge potential for siting them in prisons, doing away with the expense of trying and executing prisoners.
