Barbarians murder innocents on the high seas

Japanese whalers today entered the Antarctic Ocean to conduct "research whaling" - announcing they will catch up to 440 minke whales "in order to collect data about their population" - their indefinite annual murder of 440 mammals apparently being the only way that can both supply Japanese supermarkets with whale meat, and create an ongoing pretext for demographic "science".

Update: The SMH reports Humane Society International "expects to know within days whether it can proceed with legal action against a Japanese company it says killed hundreds of whales in Australian-protected waters [...] Federal Court Justice James Allsop reserved his judgment on whether Humane Society International (HSI) had standing to bring its case against Japanese company Kyodo Senpaku Kaisha Ltd."

Take note of the company name: Kyodo Senpaku Kaisha Ltd. Consumer boycott, protest letters to the Japanese government via their consulates and embassies, to the company itself, to the Whaling Commission, and to appropriate scientific bodies would be an appropriate set of actions to consider, should one feel strongly enough about this ongoing crime against nature. Why do I care? Tell me the last time you heard a Minke whale (or any other whale, mammal, or animal species) defending itself in the courts or media against attempted species-cide or casual murder, then I will accept our help is not needed.
