Author Richard Forno has made his book "Weapons of Mass Delusion" freely available online (under Creative Commons). He perceives the real emergency facing America (and it's cousins) today is not terrorism, but the illusions and mass delusions that "make up what passes for reality in American society". In an interesting Wired interview he examines how the phrase "gate-rape" became part of the American air traveler's lexicon, and acknowledges The Matrix as a source of inspiration, particularly inspiring "thinking about how little control we really have in our society and lives despite the illusion that we're free and able to determine our own destinies". For anyone who identifies with the concerns of Pixelated Semantics, this is required reading. Forno is an IT consultant whose literary focus is on dissecting politics and popular culture. Comments:
