Through a scanner, darkly

Of great interest is the news that the latest film of a PK Dick novel is in production. Joining the classic "Blade Runner", and the less-than-classic-but-viewable "Total Recall" and "Minority Report" is "A Scanner Darkly", one of Philip Dick's unarguable masterworks. Dealing with the nightmare of drug addiction in a society corrupted by authoritarianism, the producers are promising a very faithful rendition of the book. Starring Keanu Reeves and a bunch of other American actors, the producers say that the "genesis of the project is the love and respect for Philip K. Dick". Read it if you haven't already done so.
