An artefact from a culture that may be both familiar and foreign to westerners: "Tuareg rock by Tinawaren -- Malian rebels trade in their guns for guitars, and like an oasis in the Sahara, their music slakes audience's thirst..." Modern Blues music (and therefore also Rock) almost bears serious influence from the Tuareg's unique style of music, due to the passage of Africans along Tuareg slave trade routes several hundred years ago, bound for America. A very different order of things: "In the desert, the poets are the nobles... Music and poetry are what supports us through the hardships..." Comments:
