Too Crass for Comment?

Update: Lots of denials, couched in ambiguous language, but unconvincing. Damage control exercises: Jones does not "threaten" Man of Steel, "he puts views about things". Not denying discussion of Flint, or with him. Veteran's Minister Vale sent a fax of support to Jones, only the number she used was Law's. A private message of support now public, raising more questions of bias. More collateral damage to Government credibility. Does many silver tongues a peice of oral jewelery make? Stay tuned....

28.04.2004: The "cash for comments" scandal mark 2 is escalating, now knocking at the door of the Prime Minister. John Laws has aired an allegation that "Alan Jones told him he had pressured the Prime Minister to have Professor Flint reappointed" as chairman of the ABA. The ABC's Media Watch has been at the front line of investigating and reporting on the now very tangled web of influence-peddling involving various media personalities, radio stations, corporations, the Broadcasting Authority, and now it seems Man of Steel himself. Flint appeared on the 7.30 Report last night in an interview that failed to answer many questions, and led to the NSW Premier describing his responses as "delivered with all the style of someone who seems to be rehearsing a vice-regal role for himself, a crass inability to understand the statutory obligations that reside with him".
