No Word from China
The Chinese Government continues its internet censorship campaign by removing access to two widely-used Blog sites.
A message on one server stated "Due to the fact that the content in some blog user's blog violated regulations, the web server has been temporarily shut".
Interesting that the singular opinion of a blogger is considered so dangerous that literally thousands of parallel sites were also denied service.
Reporters Without Borders comments that "after closing websites and discussion forums, the Chinese authorities are now targeting blogs, one of the last outlets for expression still open to Internet-users".
China has consistently sought to regulate and control use of the Internet by shutting down Internet cafes, blocking web sites, interfering with search results, and arresting "dissident" net users.
This marks the maturing of the Blog into a medium that is taken extremely seriously in some quarters, and is another confirmation of the decline of the Old Media.
