The Socialist victory in Spain demonstrates that people have learned to see ongoing political deception and empire-building over Terrorism as cynical, authoritarian, and revoltingly inept. Added to the obfuscation over Iraq's WMD, and enquiries over September 11, one wonders how long it will take for "war on terror" to exhaust it's credibility completely. "As though elected officials only purpose was to camouflage self-serving behavior of those supposedly protecting the public but never fully accountable for failure to protect anybody except themselves. In the UK as in the US as in Spain, as in all nations practicing the black art of terrifying the citizenry with weak security to foster dependency on over-protected security forces and national leaders. The current campaign by the Australian "government" to deny that we are an Al-Qa'eda target, as a result of participating in the Iraq Adventure, remains unconvincing. Only a minority of conservatives seem to think that continuing to assert we are at no higher risk will be believed by anyone. In recent days, the Islamists themselves have re-iterated the danger. The opportunity of defining terrorist "threat" to Australia seems to be at the Government's convenience, despite the recent warning, and others in the last several years, such as October 18, 2003. Man of Steel wishes us to continue to think He Knows Best, at the risk of seeing Australians sacrificed to the "winds of death". However, the controversial Imam Sheik Al Hilaly asserts that Australia is not at greater risk of attack, because a large cross-section of Australians didn't support the war. "The decisions of politicians do not justify acts of terror because we are all travelling on the same boat" he is reported as saying. Although, this is at odds with the statements released by Islamist groups, who seem not to be concerned that the Government's position on Iraq has always been at odds with a majority of the people. Be angry, not assured. | HOME | EMAIL | Root Blog | Bloggerfind |
