Quoting out of context is a common trait for the media, but in this instance, GW Bush actually did say "I'm really not worthy to stand here" during a visit to the "predominantly black" Union Bethel African Methodist Episcopal church in New Orleans. Several hundred protesters earlier had loudly booed him yesterday, from behind a "protective barrier" that separates dissidents from supporters, as he laid a wreath at the grave of civil rights leader Martin Luther King in Atlanta. When he visited the church, he told the congregation "I'm really not worthy to stand here, when I think about the fact that ... this is the very place where Martin Luther King stood, as well, some 42 years ago." I think its most appropriate to let the man speak for himself, don't you? | HOME | EMAIL | Root Blog | Bloggerfind |
