It's a Brand new Brand of Baby, Baby
In what has to be one of the strangest, yet sadly almost predictable, 'fads' to emerge from America in a while, parents are naming their children after their favourite brands.
Apparently according to US Social Security records, five babies were named "Timberland" in the year 2000. Forty-nine were named "Canon", as well as 11 "Bentleys", five "Jaguars", and a "Xerox". There are also reports of "Reebok", "Camry", "Chanel", and "Gouda".
In future parents will perhaps have their kids genetically modified with their favourite corporate logo emblazoned on their body; Nike's "Swoosh" on the forehead, Coke's "Dynamic Ribbon" across the biceps. Poorer parents can sell advertising rights to their children's names and bodies, to help pay for their education at a corporate-sponsored school while they qualify for a McJob.
The kids will love us for this. Especially the 24 children who were named "Unique".
