Bin Laden Was U.S. Militarys Most Favorite Child

Irony you can't buy: "When the jihad [Afghan Soviet occupation] was on, U.S. airlines used to offer 50 percent rebate to Arabs who would volunteer to participate in the anti-Soviet war in Afghanistan".

This article also relates some interesting information on US involvement with the Mujahideen, pre 9-11. What is missing is how a "favourite son" transformed into Most Wanted: how cold war enemies have become preferable friends to some cold war allies. News for "intelligence" strategists: your enemy's enemy might also be your own enemy.
